BIO

Lucas Gonçalves is a brazilian pianist and was awarded 1st prize in the most important piano competitions of his country such as Osvaldo Lacerda International Piano Competition; I Piracicaba International Piano Concerto Competition; Lorenzo Fernandez, Arnaldo Estrella and NASCENTE-USP in the classical music category. As a concerto soloist, orchestras he has appeared with include São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), Campinas Symphonic Orchestra; Orquestra Experimental de Repertório; São Paulo State Young Symphonic Orchestra; Ribeirão Preto Symphonic Orchestra; Cubatão Symphonic Band and Gru Symphonic Guarulhos Orchestra, working together with conductors such as Neil Thompson; Victor Hugo Toro; Carlos Moreno; Thiago Tavares; Reginaldo Nascimento; Roberto Farias and Emiliano Patarra. He has appeared in recital at Sala Guiomar Novaes (Rio de Janeiro); Cidade das Artes (Rio de Janeiro) and Auditório Cláudio Santoro during the Campos do Jordão International Music Festival with a performance of the whole suite Baby 's Family No. 2, The little Animals. He has performed in Rapicciano/Umbria (Italy) during a piano residency with the Polish pianist Ewa Kupiec and in Bordeaux (France) during a residency with the Brazilian Pianist Cristina Ortiz. Lucas has worked with renowned musicians like Elisa Fukuda and Fábio Presgrave in recital at the Campos do Jordão International Music Festival and with the violist Jennifer Stumm in recital and Maria Luiza and Oscar Americano Foundation (São Paulo). In the beginning of his musical studies, Lucas Gonçalves was a student of Cubatãos Conservatoire and got a scholarship to study with Professor Ciro Gonçalves Dias Júnior. In 2011, he was accepted to pursue his bachelor degree at USP - Sao Paulo University in the class of Professors Eduardo Monteiro and Luciana Sayure, where he also pursued his master degree in piano performance. Currently, he is the pianist at Orquestra Experimental de Repertório in São Paulo Municipal Theater.
